With fewer people driving to work, it stands to reason that there are fewer traffic accidents. Fewer accidents mean fewer insurance claims, so several insurance companies have recently announced premium refunds to their customers.
Of the companies represented by The Plexus Groupe, all of them have announced a premium refund program as of 4-24-20. Please note that less than a week ago, six other companies we represent were not offering a premium refund, so things are evolving rapidly. We are optimistic that competitive pressure will result in all companies offering some form of auto insurance premium refund.
If you are insured with one of the following companies, you will receive a refund or premium credit for the months of April and May:
(List updated 4-24-20)
- AIG
- Berkley One
- Chubb
- Cincinnati
- Hanover
- MetLife
- NatGen Premier (April only)
- Progressive
- Safeco
- Travelers
Berkley One is providing their clients with a 20% premium credit, while the rest of the companies are providing a 15% credit. You do not need to do anything to receive your premium credit. It will automatically be applied, pending regulatory approval by your state’s Department of Insurance.
With millions of clients across the country, it will take time for the insurance companies to process this change, so please be patient. It could take until June or July before it is reflected in your billing statement.
If you are having trouble making your premium payments, please contact our office so we may assist. All the companies we represent are complying with state-specific regulations for premium flexibility, and all have offered to accommodate clients in need.
Hopefully, we will all be back to normal in the near future. Until then, we wish you and your family the best. Stay safe and healthy!
